2025 Mini Countryman: Bigger Body, 308 HP Electric Power
September 02, 2023The 2025 Mini Countryman, now in its third generation, comes with significant enhancements. It's 60mm taller and 130mm longer than its predecessor, a change driven by Mini's plan to introduce the smaller Mini Aceman SUV beneath it. Mini aims to appeal to new customers while retaining existing ones by offering practicality without losing its Mini identity.
In terms of design, the new Mini Countryman inherits elements from the previous generations, including the octagonal front grille, updated headlights, tail lights, and revamped C-pillar treatment. Inside, it maintains the minimalist look seen in the Cooper, featuring an identical touchscreen and an enlarged center console with more legroom in the rear. The rear seat backrests are now adjustable in six positions, and there's improved boot space of 460/1,450 liters. It also includes storage for the EV version's charging cables. Buyers can choose from three interior trims and eight Mini Experience modes. Notably, the Countryman will be the first Mini to offer Level 2 autonomous driver assistance systems, with semi-autonomous driving up to 60kph.
For electric powertrains, Mini offers two options: the single-motor, rear-wheel-drive Countryman E with 204hp and 250Nm, and the dual-motor, four-wheel-drive Countryman SE All4 with 313hp and 494Nm of torque. The former accelerates from 0 to 100kph in 8.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 170kph, while the latter achieves 0 to 100kph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 180kph. Both models feature a 66.45kWh battery offering ranges of 462km and 433km, respectively, and can be rapid-charged at rates of up to 130kW.
Additionally, the Mini Countryman offers petrol engine options, including a 169hp, 1.5-liter turbocharged triple for the front-wheel-drive Countryman C and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot, shared with the BMW X1, for the all-wheel-drive S All4. The John Cooper Works (JCW) All4 variant boasts a 2.0-liter engine with 300hp and 400Nm, achieving 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds. Mini has also confirmed a diesel engine for select markets, although specifics are pending.
